Last week I talked about the projects I want to knit this spring & summer, but I wanted to go a little deeper this week and talk about what’s on my designing needles this season. While I was planning out my design calendar for AprilRead More
It’s officially spring here in Charleston. The flowers are beginning to bloom, the temps are in the low 70’s, and the no-see-ums are beginning to come out at night. The timing could not have been more perfect as I have finished up several submission pieces that will be coming out in fall of 2019 (more on those later this year!) and I can start planning what I want to make in the next few months. Aside from my own design calendar, which I plan to share in a later post, these are the items that I’d like to make this season.Read More
I’m a huge advocate of year-long knitting projects. In 2019 I am making a concentrated effort to publish two Klever Knits Designs patterns each month and that means every now and then I’m going to want to make a little something just for me, just for the pure joy of knitting itself. That means the long-term projects needs to be something that I can pick up as I please, and make enough progress that I’m encouraged to keep going. Modular blankets can fit this perfectly.Read More
Sometimes you just want to make a sweater as quickly as possible. While packing for our upcoming trips to Los Angeles, Tahoe, and Colorado I realized that I really really wanted a red sweater for all of the holiday events we were going to be attending.
Imagine my dismay when I realized I did not own a single red sweater. It turns out that in my massive closet I only had one red garment - a red silk tank that I bought ages ago that’s not quite winter weather friendly. I could have rushed out to the store to try and find one that fit the outfit images in my head but I quickly reminded myself that I am a knitter and I can make exactly what I want! So I quickly got to work and thought it would be fun to share my journey to make this red sweater in only 8 days.Read More
I’ve been making fast progress on my crescent shawl experiment. There’s no pressure to knit it and I’m not working against any kind of deadline so I get to knit it just for the pure enjoyment of the craft of it all. There are two main camps of knitters out there: process knitters vs. project knitters.Read More
For about a million personal reasons, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted here. I reached a bit of a tipping point with the amount of stress in my life and I needed to take a step back, internalize, and come back to a sense of “normal” whatever that means. Thankfully, the last few months have helped me re-prioritize my life and I feel like I’m back to a point where I can share online.Read More
Today marks the first day of the Tops Tanks & Tees KAL led by Shannon Cook. You can follow along on her website at veryshannon or hang out in the Raverly group to check out updates from participants.
