I didn’t intend to launch a red sweater on Valentine’s Day but the timing was just too perfect. I had wanted to knit a cropped sweater for an upcoming trip and sourced this Swans Island Merino from my stash and the project was born.
You can read all about the design process in my previous post - How to Knit a Sweater from Stash in 8 Days - but I wanted to call out that the pattern is different than the design process.
Since I was knitting from stash and not planning on publishing the design, I knit it from the top down and in the round. However, I wanted to give the garment more structure and added side seams after the fact. As a result I determined it would be more effective to write the pattern to be worked from the bottom up and in pieces.
Knit with worsted weight yarn, this sweater knits up quite quickly and is a great stash buster. Knit in a fun color for a pop of color on a dreary February day.
