Sweet Georgia Yarns - Crochet Fall 2018
This chic duster is the perfect, eye-catching garment for the season. Whether layered for outdoor wear or simply for curling up at home, it’s a soft, textural sweater that everyone will love to put on.
The Medallion cardigan was inspired by my desire to bring back some 90’s into my daily wardrobe. Who could forget the duster cardigans that were worn - weather out in public or cozy at home on the couch watching Friends.
The Medallion cardigan starts with the crocheted squares for the bottom of the cardigan. The squares are then blocked and seamed. Stitches are picked up along the bottom edge and a few rows of single crochet are worked to keep the edging neat.
Stitches are then picked up along the top edge to work the body of the cardigan in one piece to the armhole. The front pieces are separated from the back at the armhole. For a relaxed fit & look, the cardigan features drop shoulders, making this an easy cardigan for the adventurous beginner crocheter. Gentle v-neck shaping is worked along the front necks to lend to the relaxed look of the cardigan. The body stitches are composed of several rows of double-chain, single-chain, and chain space openings.
Sleeves start in a similar fashion with the crocheted squares and stitches picked up and worked from cuff to upper arm.
Once all crocheting has been completed, a band of single chains are worked along the neck opening to keep all edgings neat and tidy.
