I can't believe it is already mid July, this summer is flying by! Over the past few months I have been on a few whirlwind trips from Charleston to Israel to LA and back again. I don't know about you, but the first thing I think about before a trip is which knitting project I am going to take with me. Sometimes it's impossible for me to make a choice so I end up taking a few with me. If you ask me, it's better to have too much yarn than not enough!

Our first big trip of the year was to Israel where we spent 10 days exploring Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Jordan. I had just received an paid submission so that trip was spent deadline knitting. But the next few trips were local from Charleston to LA and I had more leeway with what I wanted to bring with me.

When choosing a travel project, I tend to favor easy silhouettes and simple stitch patterns, ideal for knitting on the plane, in rental cars, and wherever your travel itinerary has in store.

Captain is one of these patterns. It's an easy tank worked in Stockinette stitch with alternate colors of garter stitch stripes. Mindless knitting at it's best, with just a bit of interest to keep you knitting "one more row". It's also a perfect stash buster with endless choices for those stripes!

Knit with Quince & Co's Cleaner Cotton Willet, Captain is designed with 4" of positive ease for a loose fit perfect for hot & humid summers. If you're lucky to live in a region without humidity (lucky you!) it pairs great with a collared sleeveless shirt underneath. To keep the design casual and breezy, I incorporated a split seam at the sides with a hi-lo hem.

You can find the pattern in my shop, as well as on Ravelry if you'd like to keep it stored in your Ravelry library. What colors will you choose to knit Captain with? I'd love to follow along and see what colors you choose on Instagram with #captainkkd
