Aleutian + Knit Now Issue 103
You can purchase Aleutian on the Knit Now website here.
This summer I had the opportunity to knit a summer pullover for Knit Now’s Issue 103, which launched in June. Watching a design transition from an idea to a completed pattern that’s published in a magazine is always a special experience, and Aleutian was no different. The design concept was simple: a cropped boxy pullover with a fun deep v-back to pair with all your summer skirts and dresses. Knit in Rowan’s Summerlite 4ply this pullover is just as easy to wear as it is to knit.
Aleutian is knit in 4 easy pieces and seamed once each piece has been knit and blocked. The front and back are knit from the bottom up starting with a 1x1 ribbed hem. The back neck showcases a deep v-neck and the front features a gentle crew neck so the pullover can be reversible, whatever preference you have!
The sleeves are also worked from cuff to upper arm and are fitted to balance out the boxy shape of the body. The sleeves are then seamed and set in to the casual drop shoulders.
The sample was knit with Rowan Summerlite 4ply in this fun bright color that is aptly named Langoustino. Summerlite 4ply as a 100% cotton yarn that is quite soft with a gentle matte finish that shows off color quite well. I couldn’t recommend this yarn more highly. This was my first time knitting with it, but it certainly won’t be the last as I love the drape that it creates in stockinette.
